Single or Double Elimination Tournament Setup

For tournaments using a "single" or "double" knock-out format instead of a "round-robin", we have you covered in this document..

For tournaments using a round-robin preliminary, click here for more information.

Below is an example of an 8-Team double knock-out tournament running over 3 days.

Below is the matching schedule to the Bracket drawn above.

To get started ... Ensure that you have an "elimination" division for each of your groups in your Schedules—>Divisions & Settings section.

Click the "Add Division" button at the top right of the page.

  1. Select your group
  2. Provide a name for your division. Ie "Double Knockout" or "Bracket" etc.
  3. Select "Elimination" as the division format.
  4. Click Insert & Close

Building your Bracket: Automated

Now that you have your elimination divisions created you can navigate to Schedules—>Manage Games.

  1. Choose your group from the left-side menu.
  2. Click the Bulk Options button at the top right of the page and select "Elimination Builder" in the drop-down.

A window will open;

  1. Select the format ie Single or Double knockout and the number of teams participating.

  5. Click Insert & Close.

We currently support up to a 12-team single or double-knockout group. Examples are provided at the end of this document.

Below is a schedule generated for the required matchups. This is for a 7-team double-elimination. You will need to adjust the game dates/times to match the venues you have booked for the tournament.

Click the "View Live" button at the top right of page to view the Bracket.

Solid lines indicate where the game winner advance, while dashed lines indicate the losers next game.

An extra final game is created in the event a team who advances to the final (G10) while failing to loose a single game - then looses their first game in the final - creating the need for second final game (G11) if necessary.

Building your Bracket: Manually

  1. Add all of your games to be played in the tournament using "label"s for the placeholders.
  2. Ensure a game # for each game.
  3. With your schedule added to the website, in Brackets, navigate to Schedules —> Elimination Visualizations

  1. Click the Add Visualization(s) button and a window will open

  1. In the window above, for the U12 AA group, the winner of G04 will go to G05
  2. Complete the remaining advancements.

Optional: Round Names

To add context to your Bracket, you can provide a "Round Name" for each round, ie Round of 16, 1/4 finals, semi-finals, consolation etc.

To add the Round Names, in Brackets, navigate to Schedules—> Elimination Visualizations

For each Elimination game, add the "Round Name". Ensure the spelling is the same for all games in that round.
