Creating Playoff Brackets for Round-Robin Tournaments
SportsHeadz is excited to announce Brackets now displays a playoff Bracket for your tournaments. This Bracket is available on your Schedules and Standings page.
For tournaments running a "Double" or "Single" Knock-out, click here for more information.
For tournaments using a round-robin preliminary, please continue...
Previously, when visitors viewed the schedule for your quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship games, the tournament site displayed a simple list of games. Your website will now display a Bracket (chart) that visually highlights team advancements. (some setup may be required)
To enable the bracket on your website automatically, once you have your schedule added, simply update your quarterfinal, semifinal and championship game #s using the following format: QF1, QF2, QF3, QF4, SF1, SF2 and F.
*** If your tournament uses quarterfinals, our default setup is for the winners of QF1 and QF2 advance to SF1 and the winners of QF3 and QF4 advance to SF2
Use the Convert Labels tool in the control panel to update your "Labels" to specific team(s) and the Bracket will update.
Below is an example of a completed Group with scores.
Creating your own Bracket - using custom game numbering.
While using QF1, QF2 QF3, QF4, SF1, SF2 and F for your game numbers will automatically draw the playoff Bracket, it is possible to draw a bracket when your using your own game numbering for your 1/4 finals, semi's and final. To complete this task, our tool "Elimination Visualizations" will allow you to "map" the games where the winners (and sometimes) losers advance to another game.
- Add all of your playoff games to be played in the tournament using "label"s for the placeholders.
- Ensure a game # is entered for each game.
- With your schedule added to the website, in Brackets, navigate to Schedules —> Elimination Visualizations.
- Click the Add Visualization(s) button and a window will open
- Choose your Group
- Enter a round #. ie. 1
- Enter a Round Name ie. Quarter Final
- Enter the Source Game #. What game # are the two teams playing?
- Which semi-final game # does the winner advance to?
- Does the loser of quarter final #90 advance to another game? If so, indicate the game number
You will need to repeat this process for the 3 other quarter-final games.
Complete the above process for your semi-final games
- Choose your Group
- Enter a round #. ie. 2
- Enter a Round Name ie. Semi-Final
- Enter the Semi Final Source Game #. What game # are the two teams playing?
- Enter the game # of your championship final.
- The loser of your semi-final does not likely advance to another game so this cell will remain empty.
You will need to repeat this process for the other semi-final game.
Your Elimination Visualizations page should look similar to this.
Optional: Round Names
To add context to your Bracket, you can provide a "Round Name" for each round, ie Round of 16, 1/4 finals, semi-finals, consolation etc.
To add the Round Names, in Brackets, navigate to Schedules—> Elimination Visualizations
For each Elimination game, add the "Round Name". Ensure the spelling is the same for all games in that round.
