Tournament Tie-Breaker Rules
Your tournament standings are sorted using the tie-breaker rules set up on your website. While these rules are typically consistent across all of your tournaments, they can be customized for each event, as well as tailored to specific groups or even individual pools within a group.
Each SportsHeadz tournament website uses the same "Default" Tournament Tie-Breakers until customized by the tournament director.
For most events, the SportsHeadz "Default" Tie-Breakers are as follows;
- Points;
- If both (or all) tied teams played equal number of games against each other, the head-to-head record in those games;
- The most Wins (W) during all round robin games;
- The highest Goal Differential (GF%) calculated as GF / (GF + GA) during all round robin games;
- The lowest Goals Against (GA) during all round robin games;
- The highest Goals For (GF) during all round robin games;
For Baseball events, the SportsHeadz "Default" Tie-Breakers are automatically calculated for 7 inning games and are as follows;
- Points;
- Head-to-head record among tied teams;
- Team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in games between tied teams;
- Team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in all games;
- Team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in games between tied teams;
- Team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in all games

Adding to your Tie-Breakers to your Tournament Rules
Most events include a section in their tournament rules dedicated to round-robin tie-breakers. It’s highly recommended that these align to avoid confusion for both teams and tournament organizers. Copying the text explanation of your website tie-breaker setup into your tournament rules helps ensure consistency throughout. For Word and PDF documents, we provide the appropriate text and for webpage rules, we provide the necessary HTML code - simply copy and paste.
- Click the Show Button (right-side column) and a window will open;

- Select & Copy Raw HTML code on the left-side of the window OR copy the Text on the right-side.
- Paste the HTML code to the rules page on your website or the Text to your rules document.
